“What programming language do you use?”
“…Claude.” 😄
This meme made me laugh because it reminded me of a project I worked on.
We had a freelance developer who joined the team.
He was eager to do and shipped features surprisingly fast.
But after reviewing a few pull requests, I noticed a pattern.
Whenever I asked:
“Why did you choose this approach?”
“How does this work?”
“What are the trade offs?”
The answer was usually:
“Claude suggested it.”
AI had written most of the code.
Don’t get me wrong, I use AI every day. It’s an incredible productivity tool.
The difference is this:
AI should help you write code.
It shouldn’t replace understanding the code.
If you can’t explain what your code does, debug it, or confidently modify it later, AI won’t make you more productive — it just postponed the problem.
The best developers I know don’t use AI less. They just question its answers more.
Curious to hear your opinion:
Has AI made us learn faster… or depend on it too much?
