Description
Pizzastenen.dk is an independent Danish guide to pizza stones and baking steel. Most people buy a stone for pizza, use it four times, and forget it at the bottom of the oven. That is a waste, because the stone is not really a pizza tool - it is a thermal mass. It stores heat and gives it back fast, and that is exactly what a loaf of bread needs in its first ten minutes, when the crust sets and the crumb decides how open it is going to be. A sourdough baked directly on a preheated stone rises higher than the same dough on a cold baking tray, for reasons that have nothing to do with pizza.
The site covers the materials - cordierite, ceramic, terracotta, lava stone and steel - what each one does to a base, how long they genuinely need to preheat, and why they crack. It also covers what the shops rarely mention: that the oven around the stone matters more than the stone does, that a kettle grill gets closer to a real pizza oven than most kitchens ever will, and that the cheap slab is often the right answer.
We run no shop and hold no stock. All content is free and written in Danish. The site is funded by affiliate links to the retailers we point to - which is precisely why it can afford to say when the expensive option is not worth it.
This is not a startup and does not pretend to be one: it is a small, independent guide site with no funding, no staff and no product to sell.
