Description

You can pick Italy out of a line-up in a fraction of a second. Now draw it from memory. Almost nobody can, and Country Draw is built entirely around that gap.

Recognition and recall are different skills. Recognising a country only needs a rough match against something you have seen thousands of times. Drawing one requires a stored shape precise enough to reproduce, and most people simply don't have one. They have just never been asked to prove it.

Country Draw asks. You get a country name, an empty square and thirty seconds. The clock starts when you put the pen down, not when the page loads, and you can switch it off if you would rather take your time. Nothing is on screen to copy or trace.

Then the real border draws itself over your attempt. Red marks where you went out to sea, blue where you cut inland. You get a score out of a hundred and, more usefully, numbered notes pinned to the map that name the mistake: the coast that drifted, the proportion you got wrong, the island you forgot. Size and position never count against you — your drawing is scaled and centred before it is compared.

Islands are first-class here. Lift the pen and each is scored separately. Sicily and Sardinia are together nearly fifteen per cent of Italy, and most attempts leave both out.

Everyone gets the same country on the same day. There are 95 in the rotation, practice deals them for as long as you want, and results share as a link that carries the drawing inside it. No account, no ads.
