Description
Melodician is a free guitar chord reference built on one idea: a chord is a sound, and every other chord site only shows you a picture of one.Here every diagram plays. Tap it to strum the whole chord, or tap a single string to hear that note on its own, which is how you find the string that is buzzing or muted. The audio is recorded acoustic guitar, served from the site itself rather than synthesised.
The site currently holds 116 guitar chord pages covering all twelve roots and every common quality, from plain majors and minors through sevenths and suspensions to the rarer shapes most references leave out. Between them those pages carry 329 voicings, so the same chord can be compared open, barred and further up the neck, and heard rather than taken on trust. Each page also gives the finger positions in order, an easier version of any shape that needs a barre, the mistakes that grip tends to invite along with the fix for each one, a plain explanation of how the chord is built, and the chords worth learning next to it.
190 songs are matched to the chords they genuinely play and shown beside the real recording, so a chord stops being an abstraction, and every chord named on a song links through to its own page.
Two details that were missing everywhere else: a left-handed toggle that mirrors every diagram and is still set when you come back, and pages that print as clean black and white chord charts with the navigation and the player left off the paper.
There is no account, no email capture and no popups, and nothing is held back behind a sign in. Guitar is live today. Piano, ukulele and bass are planned next, using the same diagrams and the same audio.
