Description
Mapfold is a daily geography game about asking better questions. One country hides each day — the same one worldwide, rolling over at midnight UTC — and you find it by folding the rest of the world away.Every round deals three question cards, and each is priced in bits of information. One bit is a perfect halving of the 192-country board; the whole puzzle is 7.58 bits of uncertainty, and finding the answer means buying all of them. The easy card is something you can read off a mental map. The hard card usually buys the most and asks something you may not be able to use even after reading it — that trade is the game. Open a card, read the fact it turns up, then name a country. A miss costs one guess and rolls everything the fact ruled out into night; the globe turns to bring what's left back into daylight.
Mapfold will not end your day on one wrong tap. Name a country an earlier fact already ruled out and it stops you and quotes the fact back — insisting costs two guesses, never the day. When the shadow closes to two countries, that's the last turn.
Afterwards you get a real debrief: what every question you chose was worth against the best one you were offered. Share the globe as it ended, browse a clue file for all 235 countries, or play unlimited practice. Free, no sign-up, in English, French and German.
