Daily Red Pokemon is a small, independent browser game built for players who enjoy turn-based strategy but do not want a long setup or a large download. Each day, the site presents a deterministic challenge built from a custom Generation III-style team. The daily format gives players a clear starting point and makes results easy to compare with friends.
The opponent is Red’s six Pokémon: Pikachu, Espeon, Snorlax, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. Players choose their opening Pokémon, attacks, and switches, then try to complete one official challenge. An unlimited practice mode is available for testing ideas before the daily attempt. Progress and unfinished battles are saved locally in the browser, so players can return without creating an account.
The project is also an experiment in lightweight web game architecture. The site is generated as a static Astro application, while battle calculations run in a browser Web Worker so the interface can remain responsive. A date and rules version determine the daily team, which keeps each challenge reproducible while allowing the content to change over time. There is no server-side database or download required for normal play.
